  1. I have a Mac G4 with java 1.5, so I can’t run your latest server jars. Do you have anything that will run on Java 1.5?

  2. Why don’t we connect android with android?

In my opinion you have to develop andromouse sever for android.

What do you think about it ?

  3. Another vote for android tablet server please. More and more android tv sticks out there and we need this for mouse control. Is this in the plan? or not?

  4. Hi, I am running AndroMouse Desktop 2.5.jar on my laptop. It shows my pc ip address and status is diconnected. I run AndorMouse 3 on my phone. I typed my laptop ip address and hit connect and nothing happens. I opened port 8888 and 1223 on my Norton Firewall by creating a rule that enables tcp and udp traffic on both ports initiated from my phone ip address. Both ip address are on the same network. Still no connction established. Anything more I need to do?
    Thanks

  5. Hello!
    Great App!! I love it!!
The only thing I can’t do is the function of “drag”… It is said “As you would do with your laptop”, so I tap the left button and drag my finger as the same time, as I do with my laptop, but it doesn’t work… I have tried every gesture of my finger and nothing… I have tried with my Nexus One and my Galaxy tab, with wifi and bluetooth, Windows and Mac… What am I doing wrong!!??
If I solve this problem, this app will be perfect for me.
    Thank you very much!

  6. it looks like a nice app, but it does not work on my system.
Im using fluxbox under Ubuntu 10.10 with two displays.
I can start the server and connect to it from the android client without any problems, and everything works fine, except the mouse-function. Every time I try to move it, the pointer is put to the mose right position on the screen, but moving up and down works.

    java -version
    java version “1.6.0_20”
    OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.13) (6b20-1.9.13-0ubuntu1~10.10.1)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode)

    greatz Johanens

  7. Any chance you can get this to work for tables? Using your phone as the keyboard/mouse for tablets specifically?

  8. I think the 2 finger scrolling isn’t very laptop-like yet. It can be further improved by stopping the scrolling when my finger stops moving. Using the lite version on galaxy note. If it is fully functional I will buy the full version. Thank you.

  9. Everything works normally but when you print the address in the browser instead of “.” prints “/” and doesn’t switch keyboard layout from English into Russian (“Alt+Shift”)

  10. Hello. I purchased the full version. It’s a great app!
One issue: I’m using it w/my iMac desktop w/a wired keyboard and mouse. While using Andromouse, I cannot get the click+drag to function and therefore, cannot move things around my desktop.
    Please help.

    Mac OS 10.5.8
    Android 2.3.4 on MyTouch 4G

  11. hi there…. i downloaded andromouse on my droid and the server downloaded and opened fine on my computer but.. when i enter the i.p. adress the mouse and keyboard doesn’t work. help? please+thankyou

  12. Andromouse runs fine on Dell Optiplex WinXP (with Comodo firewall running). Autodetect picks up IP right away.

But Dell E310 with firewall turned on or off. Autodetect won’t find the IP.

Both PCs on same wifi network 192.168.1.11 and 192.168.1.30.

Any other troubleshooting I can do?

  13. Hello,

I have installed the server on my laptop but is doesn’t work. The server could connect to the bluetooth device onboard. The application on my phone (HTC desire S) works correctly. Later I have installed an external bluetooth device and the problem is solved. It is a nice tool. Thank you.

  14. A very promising app (especially if made for tablets). If a server Android tablets is made, it will be a very awesome application. I would even pay for it. Please consider it.

    TS

  15. Help please. I don’t know where’s my mistake I just can’t make it run. I run the server (double click in the jar file, select wi-fi and Connect) and run the application on my cellphone, write the IP address and click in connect. But nothing happens. I can’t do a thing. It’s not my firewall.)

  16. I am unable to use the server because of my VPN software. I use both NeoRouter and Hamachi for VPN access to my HTPC, and both create their own virtual network interfaces.

Could you please update your server app such that if you have more than one network interface, it allows you to designate one as a default connection?

    Gregory

  17. i am looking for a solution to work with a mouse on my samsung galaxy android 3.2 tablet. I also have a HTC sensation 2.3 Android phone. Some browsing on the tablet is much more easier using a mouse. When do you offer support for a Android server version to use the Phone as a mouse for the tablet.
    Thanks Juergen

  18. I don’t see any file named andromouse after i’m downloading it….i can’t make the program work….aaarrrggghhh !!
what’s wrong ? is there anyone could help me ? btw, im using windows 7, and samsung galaxy SII as my droid….

  19. I’ve purchased the app and downloaded the server but when I want to put the ip number in the Andromouse Wifi it says “Wifi connection not detected”. The box where it says to put the ip number does not show up when I press Wifi. What should I do?

  20. I’m Luciano from Brazil and i’m importing some devices that use Android sytems like google box or android tv, this app would be very usefull if i colud install the andromouse server into Android Tv, it’s possible?

  21. I also got the error “java.net.BindException: Address already in use”, although nothing is on my 8888 port.
I looked at the java code of the server and found several problematic sections.
First: even if autoIPDetectionTest fails, the program prints SUCCESS on the console, and tries to bind to the 8888 port.
(the exception handling only prints out the thrown exception, but does not rethrow or otherwise handle it)
Second: in autoIpDetectionTest method if there is an error (exception), the socket is not closed.
These two things cause that if autoIpDetectionTest fails, the program tries to bind to 8888, but that has been already bound in autoIpDetectionTest, which results in the BindException.
    I’ve put a
    try {...
    } finally {
    if (serverSocket!=null) {
    serverSocket.close();
    }
    }

into autoIpDetectionTest, and now works as a charm.

  22. Hi, I just download this apps from android market.
    I need to ask.
When we connect to Wi-Fi, is it computer that using hotspot or the android device?
I mean, hotspot from computer or hotspot from phone?
    And which connect which??
    Need your guidance,
    Thanks

  23. Hello. Doesn’t work on my pc. It can’t detect the server by itself. If i enter correct ip the app says it’s ready, but the cursor doesn’t move. Firewall is turned off. Wtf, guys? Andromouse v2.3L
    desktop server v2.4
    Android v2.3.5
    Windows 7 x64
    Java 7.01 x86

  24. I have already purchased this app and initially the Andromouse server doesnt work well in Window7 64 bits but I finally figured it out and it worked! Those who having the same problem launching the server app, you can send me an email: tommytky@gmail.com

Anyway, I have a problem here. The purpose I wanted this app was that I can type on the bed into a game client BUT it doesnt seem to work. When I launched the game client, the security screen (User Account Control) came up, and then everything stop working and it also entirely not working within the game client but other apps are working fine…

Can the developer look into this issue? I really appreciate it 🙂 Thanks!

    • Hi,

I think that UAC is intended to work like that (one cannot control UAC windows from a network). I don’t think it is related to Andromouse only.
Other option may be turning Secure Desktop off for UAC, and see it that works, although I do not advise that (for security reasons).

      Regards,
      Szaky

  25. Would be great if you could create a server that would run on an Android tablet, so I could control the tablet with the Android phone. Would be great for running presentations from the tablet. There are currently no remotes for PowerPoint presentations that work with the tablets.

  26. – After I type letters at the top of the smart phone screen, what do I have to do to get them to type on the computer?
    – At the top of the Special Functions screen, there are 4 icons for selecting what you want to do. There should be a 5th icon that takes you back to the mouse screen. In fact, those icons should be at the top of the mouse screen, too. Basically, 5 icons at the top, letting you choose among all of the capabilities.

    Thanks… Art

  27. I installed this application and want to connect with generic Bluetooth dongle’s. The installation went well initially and the application worked great. After a day or two I could no longer connect to the PC and I have not been able to install and connect to any pc’s since. I purchased the full version of the software and don’t understand why it would have quit working. I keep getting the ‘unable to connect device’ message. I just tried again and the first attempt to connect took a few seconds, after that it drops immediately almost like it remembers that I have tried to connect to this device before so it does not try. any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated as I believe this will be a very helpful application. I also had the tech support folks at my industrial PC vendor try this and they were never able to connect but they are also very interested in getting this to work for their support purposes. Thank you.

  28. Great app.. have you thought about making a small Xbmc remote inside this? Alot of people would like to search by voice inside their librarys

  29. I don’t know if is a problem of my pc. The mouse can do only vertical movements on the last column of pixels on the rigth.

    Thanks
    Giuseppe

  30. Excellent application, I congratulate you and inform you that I have mentioned it to my readers and followers can see the article on my site adnfriki.com 🙂

  31. This looks really cool.
However, here is a quick question.
Does this application connect to Bluetooth by taking advantage of HID profile?
If yes, is it possible to simulate the keyboard and mouse on your android phone?
so that the user can do it without installing any companion on Desktop.

    Thanks

  32. Hello again. I’ve just figured it out. I just didn’t know I should open the *.jar file with java, for I had never done that before. Thanks.

  33. How about a server side that runs on Android Tablets. Be nice to have for when you wish to stream Google movie rentals from your tablet connected to a HD TV.

  34. Hello, I don’t seem to know how to instal programs with *.jar files. I’ve just installed programs using *.exe files. I need help. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards.

  35. Hi. Have the java.net.BindException (address in use) problem on one of my linux htpcs. Didn’t find a program using 8888. But would it be possible to make the port adjustable? Thanks

    GREAT app!

    • Hello allan,
Using hotspot/tethering disables/turns-off your wifi connection. So without wifi connectivity AndroMouse will not work.
      Thank you.

  36. The program itself is great. However, on one of my computers the desktop program will not work. It is receiving a signal, the firewall is unblocked, the IP address is correct, the latest drivers and versions are installed, but whatever I do, the mouse will not move. What is happening? Could it possibly be that my computer is so old that it sucks? Please help.

    • Hello Anthony,
Without any details it is hard to say that. But it might be because of your old computer. I hope it runs fine with your other computers.

  37. I’ve downloaded the paid for version, connected my pc and HTC wildfire phone via bluetooth, they have both recognised each other and I can transfer files via bluetooth, but when I use Andro Mouse I get “Bluetooth not connected or is in unsupported state.” I am on Windows 7 64 bit. Any suggestions?

    • Hello Allan,
Sorry for late reply. AndroMouse server is developed in 64 bit machine so it should not have any problem. Here is one suggestion, Right click on the bluetooth icon (in your taskbar) and select open settings. Under options tab, make sure that ‘Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer’ is checked. I hope this helps.

      • Hi Surajbh, I’ve already done that and my laptop recognises my phone. I can do file transfers etc. It’s just Andromouse that doesn’t connect.

  38. Would it be possible to get the server to run as a daemon without the GUI? I’d like to run this as a background task on my home theater computer and just add it to my startup scripts.

  39. its not working on my phn. samsung galaxy mini.. i’ve all required.. the screen sets up but cursor dosnt move
    wat shd i do???

  40. I’ve downloaded minecraft and when I want to open the server software, my computer only gives me the option to open it as I would a minecraft .jar file. I’ve right-clicked, trying to find the ‘open with’ tab yet it only gives me the above option, I’m unable to open it using java. What can I do?

    • Hello Alex,
Wow you have a unique situation here.. I guess u should try to reintall java and associate .jar with java binary.

  41. hi..
    this is a wonderful app.
but i am not able to run it.
i downloaded the server for my desktop and also downloaded the java server as you menntioned.

  43. Hi
Just got the full version, but I can’t get the microphone to work, I tap the center button with the mic. symbol, and nothing happens.
I have tried to restart, both server and phone.
It’s the windows server ver 2.4
Is there something about some speechsyntesis I have to install?
    Looking forward to your reply.

ps. It would be nice with some instructions about how to use the speech to text function, it’s because of this function i did get the full version, but I’m lost, no working microphone 🙁

    • Hello Govertz,

Sorry that you are not being able to use the speech function. Looks like you don’t have speech recognizer installed in your phone. AndroMouse uses Google’s popular Voice Search function to recognize speech. You can check whether this feature is installed in Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All and look for Voice Search. Also this feature is available in Android 2.1 and above.

  44. Hi, I would like to use it as a keyboard on Playstation 3.
Has anyboy tried to pair it via Bluetooth and was successful?
Unfortunately I can not test it with the lite version.
    br Marco

  45. i did everything exactly how you said… but when i hit wifi on my htc hd2 it says recognizer not present then wifi is on, then i enter the ip given, hit connect, says ready but the mouse dosent move on my laptop. I use windows xp, i downloaded the last version of java, last version of andromouse desktop, last version of andromouse on my phone. What should i try? thanks…

  46. Hi,
installed java 6 (27). I have no file association for .jar When I run it with java.exe I get a windows error sound and that’s it.
running it with the webstartup gives an error

    OS- win-Xp

    any help?

  47. Starting the server on linux and try saving preferences gives a:

    Exception in thread “AWT-EventQueue-0” java.lang.NullPointerException
    at app.SystemTrayMenu.spustitServer(SystemTrayMenu.java:197)

    Complete exception details in:
    Pastebin exception details”

    User command:
    # java -jar AndroMouse\ Desktop\ 2.4.jar

    Possible solution:
Maybe the problem is that not have a “System tray bar” in wmaker ??
A server command line would not be wrong.

    OS:
    Debian 2.6.32-35squeeze2
    Desktop:
    wmaker
    Packages installed:
    ii sun-java6-bin 6.26-0squeeze1
    ii sun-java6-fonts 6.26-0squeeze1
    ii sun-java6-jdk 6.26-0squeeze1
    ii sun-java6-jre 6.26-0squeeze1
    ii sun-java6-plugin 6.26-0squeeze

  48. I connect to wifi and it says “Ready”, desktop server is running… only problem is it won’t do anything. Running windows 7 with firewall off.

    • Hello clark,

When you launch AndroMouse Desktop Server for the first time you will get Windows Security Alert. You must select ‘Allow Access’ in order to fully use AndroMouse. If you selected Cancel by chance, then go to Windows Firewall in control panel and select Restore defaults. Launch the server again and this time select Allow access. You don;t need to turn firewall off to use AndroMouse. Also make sure that your phone is connect to the same WiFi hotsopot where your computer is connected to. I hope this solves your problem.

  49. I’m trying to buy it from the android market and everytime I try I get a message of an internal error on the market and I cannot complete my purchase… I tried purchasing something else and succeed. what’s wrong?

  50. Dear author,

I’m having trouble using the app. I’m with Andoird 2.3.3 (HTC Wildfire S), Ubuntu 10.4 and the following java version:

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

Once I run the server part and connect via WiFi I get many java errors:

Can you help with info or a hint how to resolve the problem?

    10x!

    • Hello Pavel,

Looks like some other program is already using the same port(8888) that AndroMouse uses. OR you ran AndroMouse multiple times.

  51. hy!
nice app but i have a problem. i tried the whole program on my laptop, but i really need it for my desktop computer. the ip is different and i can not input the new ip. can you help me?

  52. It works but only when I turn off my firewall. Can you tell me what port I need to open so that I can leave the firewall on? I am connecting over WiFi. Also would be nice if you can make the server run as a service on WinXP so that I do not have to manually log in to Windows and manually launch the server. Thanks!

    • Hello Geoffrey,

The ports that AndroMouse uses are 8888 and 1223. New update is comming soon which will allow to start the server automatically.

  53. surajbh

Hello. Just bought the full version. Great app. One suggestion. Can you please improve the client so it starts with windows as a background service (with an icon to easily shut down if needed). Thanks! For now Ill us the startup folder.

    G.

    • Hello Guillermo,

Thank you for getting AndroMouse full version. I am currently working on this as suggested by you and many other users. Next update is comming soon. Please dont forget to leave your great comment in the Android Market. Thank you.

  54. When I start to use the Microphone to type a letter it is so awesome, only one problem! when I say a couple of words I thought that it would do that automatic spacing between words what can I do to elliminate going to the keyboard and press the space button to complete the sentence, is there a trick that we should learn?

  55. can andromouse work with a portable wifi hotspot network that i create from android 2.3.4? i don’t have a bluetooth radio in my computer, and apparently android wont connect to an adhoc network that i create in windows 7, so this seems like my only option, but please correct me if i’m wrong.

  56. AndroMouse is not working via my wifi on my mac os x 10.411. I have an Evo on Sprint for Android and it works fine with the internet on my phone via wifi.
The desktop version of AndroMouse only downloads to my desktop a Java (2.3Jar).
When I click on the file I get the following msg: “The jar file “AndroMouse Desktop 2.3.jar” couldn’t be launched. Check the Console for possible error messages”
    What’s the problem?
I prefer not to use bluetooth…is that my only option?

  57. great app. any chance you could make the server accept command line options and start without a window, like a background service? would love to have this autostarting on my htpc, but it takes the fun out of it if i have to use a mouse to start the server every time i boot the pc…

    • Hello Kendon,

Great suggestion. I will look into this. In the mean time, if you are in Windows try copying the Server in the startup folder. I hope this might help a little.

  58. Does not work with bluetooth on MacBook 10.5.8 and HTC Incredible. The phone is paired. Andromouse server says: bluetooth not present or is in unsupported state. Other bluetooth devices are OK.

Wifi works OK, but it is not possible to use the Dock to change programms.

    • Hello Peter,

      Please perform the following:
Please make sure you have java 6 installed,
Click on little bluetooth icon on top of the screen. Select ‘Bluetooth Preferences’ the click on ‘Advanced.’ Then check on ‘Share my internet connection with other bluetooth devices’. Click ok.

We are currently working on the Dock problem.

      • It is still unsupportet. Java 6 is on first position. There are many options for ‘Share my internet connection with other bluetooth devices’ :
Bluetooth, Bluetooth 2, Bluetooth PAN, Airport, Ethernet, Parallels Shared Networking Adapter, Parallels Host-Only Networking Adapter, VPN.

        What is right?

      • Bluetooth 1 and 2 is supported. Please try either bluetooth or Bluetooth 2 whichever works for you.

      • Sorry, no way. All the time the same error: “bluetooth not present or is in unsupported”
Is it possible to send you screenshots from my bluetooth configuration? It looks like different to your advice, and I have there many other options as only ‘Share my internet connection with other bluetooth devices.

  59. This is so easy to use. I have a media center pc attached to a 55 inch tv and I use this app as my mouse and keyboard, the rest of the functions I use the ir blaster remote. This app is a must!

    • Hello scott,

Thank you for liking AndroMouse. New update with media player and power point remote controls are also coming with lots of other features. Please dont forget to rate and comment in the AndroMouse market.

  60. The app is fantastic !!! But i have a question i have the new version so the microphone is between the left and the right button. Im trying to use but its not working you cnt press on the microphone?

    • Hello mohammed,

You are using Lite version. Lite version does not offer microphone option. Please consider upgrading to full version.

  61. Does not work with bluetooth on Ubuntu 11… the phone is paired. Andromouse server says: bluetooth not present or not supported. Wifi works OK. Other bluetooth devices (apple wireless keyboard) works fine. Any suggestions?

    • Hello Arozzy,
Bluetooth is currently not supported in Ubuntu due to difference in drivers. We are currently working on this and an update will be out soon.

      • Understood, thank you 🙂 P.S. it would be nice if special keys function would include number pad instead of function keys, as I use apple BT, which is without num pad.

  62. Awesome work man….thanks for making life so easy and handy..great going..looking frwrd for more ideas from u in future…

  63. Wow it makes my life so easier.. I am a video producer and I have to constantly see my recorded videos. this app helps me play my videos when i dont have access to my mouse.. love from Belgium.

  65. I downloaded your app in hopes to use the bluetooth with my computer. It will not pair with my computers bluetooth. It shows my computer when I push connect, you server does not discover my phone when I make it discoverable. I do not know what the issue is please help.

    • Hello Shawn,

You have to pair your phone with your computer using windows before AndroMouse server can recognize your phone. This process is one time only.

  66. it does load but my pc is not connected wifi does this mean i will have to use bluetooth or is it because i am on linux. it is finding my ip as 127.0.1.1

    • Hello Mark,

Your PC must be connected to wifi to use wifi connection. However if you are connected to wifi and still get 127.0.1.1 then you can do the following to find your IP on Linux(in this case Ubuntu) :
      1. Right click the network icon in the notification area and click on Connection Information.
      2. Look for IP address and enter it on your AndroMouse app. You still need to run the server program even it displays 127.0.1.1

New server program with bug fixes will be realeased very soon.
      Hope this helps.

AndroMouse 2.2.1 is now available to download with bug fixes.

      • thank you for the reply. I knew all that but my pc is connected by cable so if i want to use this i will have to go purchase a bluetooth usb adapter for my pc.

  67. Greetings,

I am trying to get AndroMouse to connect (preferably by WiFi). I am being told that my IP address is 192.168.0.193. I am able to enter 192.168 into my AndroMouse app.
I am not able to enter the entire IP address.
Can you assist me with this?

    Thanks,
    Greg

    • Hello Greg,
You should be able to enter entire IP address. Please restart your app. and try again.

      Thank you.

      • No luck. I have removed and reinstalled the program. It stops accepting digits after xxx.xxx.

        Your assistance please.

        Thanks,
        Greg

      • This is a unique situation. I suspect it is keyboard installed in your phone. Please try with a different keyboard(other than you are using now)

  68. Andromouse server will not open Mac OSX 10.5.8
I get a message that says: Java jar could not be launched.
Check console for error messages. I have an app that will run using wifi only and was looking forward
to being able to use bluetooth.

    • Dear Ron,

Thank you for your interest in AndroMouse. Have you installed java in your computer? Also download the latest AndroMouse desktop server as it is updated frequently. The latest version is 2.3. Follow connecting using bluetooth section on this page.

      • was this ever resolved because i am having the same issue and without the server launching, the bluetooth operation won’t work either.

      • graverubber17,
I have Mac Os X 10.6.7 and have downloaded andromouse 2.3 version. It works perfect and does awesome job. What is your Mac version?.. I do not have any problem yet..

      • Please make sure that you have Java 6 installed in your macbook. If you still get the error message please do this: goto utilities, look for java preferences, hold and drag the Java SE 6 to the first position of the list.

  69. Help! I can’t get Android Market to recognise my phone — says it (HTC Wildfire) is incompatible. Possibly it is because it can’t download to me here in Ethiopia? Any suggestions? Happy to pay via PayPal instead.

    • Hello Andy, I noticed that you were trying to access Android Market from Adis Abeba. Android Market is not currently available in your area. Do you have ‘app installer’ in your phone?

  70. I just purchased it and it works superb. Voice recognition is the most exciting part and it is fast and accurate. Get it!!
